Loons Bang Out 6-4 Win Versus South Bend
|
The Great Lakes Loons faced a tough opponent in South Bend pitcher Brian Clark, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium by a final score of 6-4. Clark went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Justin Hawkins earned the win to go to 4-2. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Alfonso Silva locked down his 2nd save.
It could have been a different outcome for Great Lakes, had it not been for Matt Foster, the 24-year old shortstop . Foster contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Great Lakes up, 3-0.
"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Jake Landen.
Great Lakes now sits at 61-47, while South Bend falls to 60-48.
