Bees Double Up Kernels, 4-2
|
The Burlington Bees topped the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4-2, in Midwest League action at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Burlington pitcher and Elyria, Ohio, native Bobby Gibler. Burlington reliever Bobby Gibler got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jon Sotelo was tagged with the loss. The Bees go to 56-52, putting them 4th in the Western Division.
Burlington used a well-timed hit by Eddie Saldana to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Bees ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I felt good up there," said Saldana. "I saw the ball well."
