Kernels Drop River Bandits, 2-1

Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Quad Cities River Bandits. Cedar Rapids won it, 2-1. Cedar Rapids starter Miguel Toscano was in command. The win makes Cedar Rapids 54-55.
The Kernels got a big hit from designated hitter Steve Richardson. In the bottom of the sixth, Richardson smacked a 2-run home run off Quad Cities pitcher Riley Fitzmaurice. It was his 3rd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Kernels were ahead, 2-1.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Richardson. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
