Clinton Loses, 6-3, to Cedar Rapids in 10
|
The Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the Clinton LumberKings, 6-3, in 10 innings. Kevin Easter, who is tied for 9th in the MID in bases on balls with 55, played a big role. Easter was 2-4 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI for the Kernels in the win. Chris Coler earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The 4th-place Kernels bumped their record to 57-56.
Cedar Rapids used a timely hit from Steve Gross to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kernels ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Clinton manager Jose Ursua.
