Strickland Powers Loons Offense
The Great Lakes Loons trumped the Lansing Lugnuts, 12-8, at Cooley Law School Stadium. Great Lakes shortstop Jeremy Strickland was terrific. He was 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 5. The setback makes Lansing 56-59.

Jonathan Covas had a big 2-run double for the Loons in the top of the eighth inning. With Great Lakes leading 10-8 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Gus Alba and swatted a double to left. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Loons ahead, 12-8.

"I like the roll we're on," said Great Lakes manager Ivan Cruz.
