The Kane County Cougars topped the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2, in Midwest League action at Ashford University Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kane County pitcher Brandon Archer. Chi-ju Tze picked up the save, his 8th. Kane County is 76-39 and Clinton, with the loss, 45-70.
Fernando Carreon, who is tied for 10th in the MID in home runs with 10, had a direct impact on the outcome. Carreon contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Kane County up, 3-2.
"Coming in, from the get-go, I knew my stuff was good," said Archer.
