Lake County wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Nick Koerper, losing to South Bend, 2-1, at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. South Bend reliever Noah Boyd was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Aaron Hohn took the loss. The Cubs improved their record to 58-58 with the win over Lake County.

Joe Jacobs was the walk-off hero for South Bend. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cubs center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Jacobs said.
