Cedar Rapids Claims 4-2 Victory
The Cedar Rapids Kernels reigned over the Clinton LumberKings in damp conditions.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels topped the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2, in Midwest League action at Ashford University Field. The standout performance belonged to Cedar Rapids pitcher and Memphis, Tennessee, native Prince Roper. Roper got the win, improving to 4-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs.

Cedar Rapids used a clutch at-bat from Frank Carrasquillo to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kernels ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"When you win, you always have confidence," said Cedar Rapids skipper Chris Glasspoole. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."

The Kernels saw their win-loss record go to 51-65. At the same time, the LumberKings fell to 44-72.
