Bowling Green right fielder Ryan Sassoon had a good game, even if his team did not. The Hot Rods dropped a 6-4 decision to Lake County at Classic Park. Sassoon was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ben Veillette was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Earning his 4th save for Lake County was Linus Evans.

The Hot Rods had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Captains going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old left fielder Jimmy Vidito came to the plate. Vidito hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 fastball from Bowling Green hurler Angelo Garza. It was Vidito's 13th double of the year.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Vidito told the Lake County News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The Captains now have a record of 55-60.
