Kernels Get 2-1 Win Versus Quad Cities
The Quad Cities River Bandits got a superb performance from pitcher Jason Martin, but the Cedar Rapids Kernels still won the game, 2-1. Martin came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. Marco Ayala earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. The third-place Kernels are now 60-56, the River Bandits 45-71.

Alex Ybarra helped out the Cedar Rapids cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.

"We found a way to win tonight," Ybarra said.
