Cougars Need Extra Frames to Get Past LumberKings
|
The Kane County Cougars picked up a win at Ashford University Field, knocking off the Clinton LumberKings, 6-2, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Juan Lara played a key role in the triumph. Dan Rainwater earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 6-1. The Cougars, at 73-44, sit in first place in the Western Division.
Kane County used the timely hitting of Ed Buda to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cougars on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Clinton manager Matt Vining.
