The South Bend Cubs picked up a win at Cooley Law School Stadium, knocking off the Lansing Lugnuts, 3-2, in 10 innings. On the mound for South Bend was right-hander Jesse Clare. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Jonathan Vasquez, now 3-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The defeat makes Lansing 56-62.

Victor Avalos had a direct impact on the outcome. Avalos contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put South Bend up, 3-2.

"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Lansing skipper Robert Ely.
