Thanks in large part to first baseman Mike Collett, the Clinton LumberKings beat the Kane County Cougars, 5-3. Collett was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. The winner in relief was Eddie Flores. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. The save was credited to Juan Valencia, his 4th.

A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Collett hit a changeup from Luis Figueroa for a 2-run single, putting Clinton up, 5-2.

"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Collett told the Clinton Daily.

Clinton now sits at 50-68, while Kane County falls to 73-45.
