Dragons Win Close Shave, 2-1
|
The Dayton Dragons in 10 innings beat the Great Lakes Loons, 2-1, at Fifth Third Field. Starting pitcher Bill Penn was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Dave King, now 7-8, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. With the win, the Dragons improved to 62-55.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Dayton left fielder David Adams, facing Alfonso Romero, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Dragons the 2-1 win.
Said Penn: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
