When it came to hitting the baseball, Matt Martinez had few peers in the Pacific Conference this year. The gifted second baseman for Albuquerque tagged opposing pitchers for a .309 average and was voted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2110. Included in his season stats were 162 hits, 33 doubles, 13 triples, 25 home runs, 91 runs scored and 80 RBIs.

He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Tim Kase of the Reno Aces finished second in voting, while Bill Bernard of the Salt Lake Bees finished third.
