Blue Wahoos Heading to Round 2
Thursday, September 15th , 2107
In a series that goes the distance, the difference is often the efforts of one player.
In the Round 1, that difference-maker was Pensacola Blue Wahoos starting pitcher Allen Tobar, as his team downed the Tennessee Smokies 3-2, with the final game a 1-0 win at Five County Stadium.
"I've never been as focused as I was in this series," Tobar said after the deciding game. "There was only one thing that mattered and that was to get us the win. It makes it worth all the hard work to be able to knock Tennessee out and move on to the Round 2."
For the series, Tobar had a 1.20 ERA over 15 innings pitched, with 16 strikeouts and a 2-0 record.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will play against the Birmingham Barons in the next round. Birmingham won their series against the Mississippi Braves 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
