Johnson Booms 3 Homers
Thursday, August 2nd , 2108
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Arkansas Travelers.
Tulsa first baseman Jeremy Johnson tripled up on the home runs to propel the Drillers to a win, 9-3, at Dickey-Stephens Park.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Arkansas manager Bobby Pappas said. "Johnson hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Johnson collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Jeremy Johnson hit a solo-shot off Rafael Valentin in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Rafael Valentin in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Isiah Howard in the 9th.
Johnson is hitting .281 this season with 19 home runs, 42 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 199 at-bats.
