Gilley Jacks 3 into the Stands Sunday, August 31st , 2098 It was a good day for the Midland RockHounds and an exceptional one for John Gilley. The 24-year-old right fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the RockHounds beat the Corpus Christi Hooks 9-3 at Whataburger Field. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Gilley said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 7 runs and smacked 3 hits in 5 at-bats. John Gilley hit a GRAND SLAM off Paul DeGrazia in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Paul DeGrazia in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Chris Rockwell in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. Gilley is presently batting .395 with 9 home runs, 18 runs scored and 17 RBIs. His OBP is .471. |
