Coverdale Named TEX Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Saturday, October 4th , 2098 Usually relievers are treated like second-class citizens at award time. Most of the time the accolades go to the starters, but not this season. A Tulsa reliever, Chris Coverdale, has been honored with the 2098 Pitcher of the Year Award in the Texas League. The Drillers ace appeared in 62 games and saved 29 of them. He finished with a record of 9-3 and a 1.29 ERA. Coverdale had 130 strikeouts in 91 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .139 batting average. He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Victor Duro of the San Antonio Missions finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Bobby Judd of the Tulsa Drillers finished third.
