Thomas Belts Bunch of Base Hits
Sunday, April 28th , 2115
A jubilant Sid Thomas joined the postgame press conference at San Manuel Stadium to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Inland Empire 66ers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Lancaster JetHawks shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 15-4 JetHawks win.
"He made it look easy," said Steve Abrahamson, manager of the 66ers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Sid Thomas doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Sam Kohler in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
In 7 games this season, Thomas has batted at a .379 pace with 11 hits and 3 home runs.
