Blue Rocks Move on to Round 2
Wednesday, September 16th , 2111
When the entire season comes down to one game, John Shields said you find out what a team is really about.
As it turns out, the Wilmington Blue Rocks are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the Lynchburg Hillcats 1-0 tonight at Ed Smith Stadium in order to win the Round 1 and book a place in the next round.
"It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said Shields, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about."
Shields hit .353 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Wilmington Blue Rocks will play against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the next round. Myrtle Beach won their series against the Carolina Mudcats 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
