Monday, October 6th , 2104
Ivan Ventura said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 24 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Frederick Keys rising star has won the Carolina League Reliever of the Year for 2104.

He captured the award on the strength of his 1.59 ERA over 73.2 innings. He also had 12 saves in 44 relief appearances, 83 strikeouts and only 38 walks.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. Marco Mena of the Lynchburg Hillcats finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Jose Gomez of the Winston-Salem Dash finished third.
