Friday, October 10th , 2110
He may have less experience than most of his Carolina League peers, but that didn't slow Jalen Motley down at all in 2110.
At the age of 21, the Myrtle Beach shortstop has been named the winner of the Carolina League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .276 batting average and a .409 on-base percentage this year. In 95 games he piled up 93 hits, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs, 42 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Aaron Hutchinson of the Winston-Salem Dash finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Seth Hood of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans finished third with 1 first place vote.
