Hits Galore: Benhart Drills 5 Hits
Wednesday, June 19th , 2109
Tampa Yankees shortstop Jeff Benhart had a day to remember at Calvin Falwell Field, ripping apart the Bradenton Marauders and sparking the 4-3 Yankees win.
Benhart wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Benhart told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jeff Benhart singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI triple in the 10th.
Benhart is currently hitting at a .318 pace with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. He has played in 37 games and scored 26 times.
