Clearwater Downs St. Lucie as Torres Tosses 3-0 Shutout Thursday, June 18th , 2111 The St. Lucie Mets were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the Clearwater Threshers and hurler Antonio Torres. Torres kept the Mets confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Torres," St. Lucie manager Troy Nelson said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 23-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Torres said.
