Hammerheads Sergio Duarte Down and Out for Year
Sunday, August 24th , 2098
Sergio Duarte of the Hammerheads just might have to call it quits for the season. The 25-year-old Jupiter reliever received a possible season-ending injury against the St. Lucie Mets recently at Roger Dean Stadium. Duarte suffered a torn back muscle while throwing a pitch. The Hammerheads medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 4 months.
Duarte has compiled an ERA of 5.16 so far this season, winning 1 games with 1 loss and no saves. In 26 relief appearances he has hurled 52.1 innings, yielded 62 hits and struck out 32. Opposing hitters have batted .288 against Duarte.
