Ammons Sparkles in 8-0 Shutout
Thursday, September 4th , 2098
The Clearwater Threshers were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to the St. Lucie Mets and hurler Justin Ammons. Ammons kept the Threshers confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Ammons," Clearwater manager Mike Kretzschmer said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 28-year-old right-hander had no walks and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Ammons said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
To date this season, Ammons has registered 1 starts, 3-0 won-lost mark, 0.00 ERA, 14.2 IP, 16 strikeouts and no walks. Opposing teams have hit .167 against him.
