Chiefs Morales Smacks 5 Hits
Wednesday, August 16th , 2113
The Peoria Chiefs stopped the Cedar Rapids Kernels by a score of 15-0 at Veterans Memorial Stadium, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Juan Morales. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Morales said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Morales did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Kernels.
"Not much that I can say," offered Cedar Rapids manager Moises Sanchez. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Juan Morales hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Juan Madrigal in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Morales has hit .237 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and scored 10 times.
