Cougars Flame Out Against Worthington, Chiefs
Thursday, July 31st , 2098
There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.
Bryan Worthington of the Peoria Chiefs blanked the Kane County Cougars, 4-0, at Dozer Park today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 7-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.
"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Worthington said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
Worthington walked 1 and struck out 9 in the victory.
"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Cougars manager Mike Haskin said later.
This season, Worthington has 2 wins and 5 losses and a 6.98 ERA.
