Cortez Fashions Shutout Against Peoria Wednesday, August 20th , 2110 David Cortez kept the Peoria Chiefs hitters from doing much damage at Modern Woodmen Park. Peoria could only muster 1 hit and draw 2 walks against the right-handed Cortez, who controlled them throughout the game. Quad Cities won the contest, 5-0. Cortez added 6 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Cortez told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." This season, Cortez has fashioned a 4-3 mark and 2.32 ERA in 73.2 innings.
