Mullins Sparkles in 3-0 Shutout
Thursday, September 4th , 2098
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Joe Mullins of the Burlington Bees proved the point at Community Field today, holding the Peoria Chiefs to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Mullins made us look real bad today," Chiefs manager Bobby Perez said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Mullins had 11 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Bees took the 3-0 win.

Mullins has fashioned a 10-9 mark for the season, 3.90 ERA and thrown 161.2 innings in 28 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .262 against him.
