Lakewood Halts Fearson's Hitting Steak Saturday, May 24th , 2110 Late in the game, all eyes in First Energy Park were on Omar Fearson as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Fearson, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Fearson, it was that his Hagerstown Suns won the game anyway, stopping the Lakewood BlueClaws by the score of 4-1. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Fearson told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." At the moment, Fearson is batting .277 with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. He has played in 39 games and scored 16 times. |
