Players Suspended in Intimidators-Crawdads Donnybrook Thursday, June 14th , 2108 Yesterday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium Al Gatlin and Santiago Burdier got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Kannapolis Intimidators and Hickory Crawdads. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Gatlin will have to sit out 4 while Burdier would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Gatlin is currently batting .304 with 2 home runs, 20 runs scored and 20 RBIs. His OBP is .331. This season, Burdier has gone 2-3 with an ERA of 3.30, posting 63 strikeouts in 71 innings. |
