Lakewood Loses Gainey for Year Tuesday, August 9th , 2112 When Steve Gainey was hurt against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, the Lakewood BlueClaws were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 22-year-old reliever suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Gainey would miss 7-8 months of the season. This season, Gainey is 0-and-1 with no saves and a 4.56 ERA. He has given up 34 hits in 23.2 innings with 11 strikeouts. |
