SAL Top Batter Trophy Won by Pierce Tuesday, September 1st , 2111 Layant Pierce made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Atlantic League this past month. The Asheville Tourists third baseman shined through the month of August and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old hit .267 with 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored. In his season totals, Pierce has 26 home runs, .272 BA, .407 OBP, 66 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has played in 124 games. |
