Eric Nieto Out for Season
Tuesday, August 28th , 2108
The doctors have spoken and Eric Nieto of the Greensboro Grasshoppers didn't like what he heard. The 20-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Nieto sustained his season-ending injury during the Delmarva Shorebirds game yesterday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Greensboro medical staff reported Nieto had bone chips in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6 months.
In 7 starts this year, Nieto has posted no wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 29 innings, allowed 39 hits, struck out 23 and has a 8.07 ERA.
