Ammerman Cracks 3 HRs for Columbia Saturday, August 23rd , 2098 Columbia center fielder Chad Ammerman blasted three homers today at NewBridge Bank Park in the 16-6 Fireflies victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers. For the game, Chad Ammerman scored 3 times and knocked in 5 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Ammerman when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 5-for-6, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Ammerman told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Chad Ammerman hit a solo-shot off Jason Richardson in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Gil Soto in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Gil Soto in the 7th and singled in the 9th. For the year Ammerman is batting .222 with 12 home runs, 31 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |
