Sawtell Fashions Shutout Against Greensboro Sunday, August 24th , 2098 It wasn't easy but the Columbia Fireflies made it look that way. Starter Pat Sawtell shut out the Greensboro Grasshoppers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Columbia Fireflies cruised to victory, 5-0. Sawtell allowed only 4 hits and rang up 14 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
