SAL Pitcher of the Year Award Announced Sunday, October 5th , 2110 It was as good as money in the bank when Ben Schaffer took the hill for Augusta. He paid his club back with interest this season with a superb 11-5 mark, collecting the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year Award for 2110. The GreenJackets star delighted the hometown fans with a fine 2.03 ERA and 169 strikeouts in 168.1 innings. Schaffer surrendered 125 hits and 33 walks and limited opposing batters to a .203 batting average. He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jay Kelleher of the Asheville Tourists finished second in voting, while Matt Flowers of the Asheville Tourists finished third.
