Simpson Selected SAL's #1 Player Friday, October 5th , 2108 Intimidators second baseman Joey Simpson was at the top of the heap in the South Atlantic League this season and today he nabbed the Most Valuable Player Award. In 2108 he rang up 142 hits, 38 doubles, 10 triples, 15 home runs, 89 RBIs and 65 runs scored. All those numbers helped him to build his .313 batting average and .373 on-base percentage. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 14. Chris Frye of the Kannapolis Intimidators finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Travis Parrish of the Asheville Tourists finished third.
