Hains Socks It to Yankees, Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, July 16th , 2098 5 hits in 6 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Shane Hains of the Vermont Lake Monsters had a sensational game against Staten Island at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 16-2 shellacking of the Yankees. In the postgame press conference, he joked that he was going to take the rest of the week off. "I did all my hitting in one day -- what else do they want from me?" he said with a laugh. Shane Hains singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 8th.
