Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Wednesday, August 13th , 2098
Yesterday at MCU Park Nate Joyner and Bill Clifford got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Brooklyn Cyclones and West Virginia Black Bears. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.

Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Joyner will have to sit out 4 while Clifford would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.

This year Joyner is hitting .342, produced 6 RBIs and 1 home runs, scored 19 times and gotten on base at a .385 rate.

To date this season Clifford is 0-6 with 10 starts and an ERA of 9.17 with 19 strikeouts in 35.1 innings.
