All year long Mike O'Neal feasted on New York-Penn League pitching to the tune of a .385 batting average. For his outstanding efforts he collected the league's Most Valuable Player Award for 2109.

The Connecticut Tigers second baseman slammed opposing pitchers for 102 hits, 6 home runs and 47 RBIs, while scoring 56 times.

He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ryan Kaplan of the Hudson Valley Renegades finished second in voting, while Mark Davidson of the State College Spikes finished third.
