The manager of the West Virginia Black Bears said he always had confidence handing the ball to Dave Stearns out of the bullpen.

The 21-year-old was a dominant performer all year for West Virginia and his efforts have been rewarded with the New York-Penn League Reliever of the Year for 2110.

The bullpen ace had an impressive 1.06 ERA this season, with 9 saves in 36 relief appearances. He fanned 52 batters in 51 innings and sported a record of 3 wins and 2 losses.

He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Salvador Lopez of the Lowell Spinners finished second in voting, while Chris Ashworth of the Brooklyn Cyclones finished third.
