Spikes Ace, Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Sunday, October 12th , 2110 Art Cathcart of the State College Spikes will be adding a new centerpiece to his mantel after being tabbed for the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Year Award today. The 21-year-old hurler started 16 games this season, tallying a 8-5 record. In 108.2 innings, Cathcart gave up 80 hits, struck out 119, walked 27 and held opponents to a .201 average as he posted a fine 1.99 ERA. He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 14. Mario Morales of the State College Spikes finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Mikey Thomas of the Auburn Doubledays finished third with 1 first place vote.
