Nick Eiland Out for Season
Saturday, August 29th , 2111
Cincinnati (SS-A) reliever Nick Eiland could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. He exited yesterday's Eugene game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Eiland would be out 10-11 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This year, Eiland has 6 relief appearances with 2 saves, 3-1 season record and a 2.63 ERA. He has hurled 37.2 innings, given up 23 hits, struck out 42 and walked 12. Opposing clubs have batted .174 against the Cincinnati (SS-A) reliever.
