Big Year for Hill, Wins NWL Pitcher of the Year Award

The Pitcher of the Year Award for 2109 has been presented and the Northwest League winner is Phil Hill of Salem-Keizer.

"It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Hill. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Volcanoes star told reporters.

Hill excelled with an impressive 6-3 record in 15 starts. In 85.2 innings he yielded 60 hits and 24 walks, while striking out 86 and compiling a fine 1.89 ERA.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 16. Chris Gormley of the Spokane Indians finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Armando Galvez of the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds finished third with 6 first place votes.
