Big Year for Hill, Wins NWL Pitcher of the Year Award Friday, October 25th , 2109 The Pitcher of the Year Award for 2109 has been presented and the Northwest League winner is Phil Hill of Salem-Keizer. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Hill. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Volcanoes star told reporters. Hill excelled with an impressive 6-3 record in 15 starts. In 85.2 innings he yielded 60 hits and 24 walks, while striking out 86 and compiling a fine 1.89 ERA. He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 16. Chris Gormley of the Spokane Indians finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Armando Galvez of the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds finished third with 6 first place votes.
