Great Year Gets Bennett NWL Most Valuable Player Award
Sunday, October 19th , 2098
At the age of 23, Craig Bennett of the Eugene Emeralds could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2098 was good enough to win the center fielder the Northwest League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .326 batting average this year, as well as a .383 on-base percentage. He played 58 games and racked up 79 hits, 20 doubles, 11 triples, 6 home runs, 30 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 16. Ruben Granados of the Chicago A (SS-A) White Sox finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Danny Luna of the Spokane Indians finished third with 2 first place votes.
