Fiorentino Hittin' on All Cylinders
Tuesday, July 15th , 2110
It was a special day for Zachary Fiorentino at American Legion Field -- the Johnson City Cardinals second baseman hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible.

The 22-year-old Fiorentino racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to etch his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Cardinals didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Danville Braves, 3-2.

"He hit everything we threw," said Danville manager Jairo Escobar. "There was just no getting him out today."

For the game, he was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

"I'm glad for Zachary," Johnson City manager Francisco Zamarripa said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."

Speaking to the press after the game, Fiorentino said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit."

Zachary Fiorentino singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Shane Fielder in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

This season, Fiorentino is swinging the bat at a .237 rate with 19 hits in 80 at-bats. To date he has hit 3 home runs, scored 10 runs and driven in 7.
