Staggs on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Milwaukee (AZL) Thursday, July 17th , 2098 Even as a kid, Nate Staggs said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Peoria Sports Complex today, Staggs showed how well he learned that lesson. The 20-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the San Diego (AZL) Padres, helping his team knock off the Milwaukee (AZL) Brewers by a score of 10-0. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Nate Staggs hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Josh Thompson in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
